Did you know that the average number of hours spent on researching travel is 40? Because life is short, there are not enough hours in the day, and travel is an investment that benefits from expertise, travel advisors are key to any important journey. You can book your own travel in the same way you can remodel your own kitchen or do your own taxes...the more complex and important, the more useful it is to work with a professional who gets you. Whether you love the process of researching destinations or hate how overwhelming it feels, there's no benefit to starting from scratch when, instead, you can plug into our global network of partnerships with decades of first-hand planning and travel expertise. 

As an IATAN accredited travel advisor, we are able to offer start-to-finish travel services. Our tailored, comprehensive land packages come with additional services including assistance with selecting air, travel insurance, and a network of assistance while traveling. We do not book air-only requests. We are the right fit for travelers looking for custom, one-stop itineraries. We do not book a la carte, transfer-only, etc.

Once you've confirmed your land package, we can assist with air. Many travelers prefer to book their own air to keep control over changes to their flights while traveling due to the fact that, in many cases, the agent who booked the flight is the sole entity authorized to make changes. This is also the case with ticketing systems such as Expedia or Orbitz. For travelers wishing to use air miles, this has to be done directly with the airline. 

While we do not offer our own menu of set departure trips, we can certainly work with you to craft your own small group. If you are a solo traveler looking for a group trip, we can often steer you towards a known vetted product. This is common with scuba diving liveaboard requests, for example. We can also assist with building around set departure components, such as booking a spot on a set departure yoga retreat and then helping you design your own customized extensions. 

Booking a trip is easy. Use the form on our Contact Us page to share your ideas and we'll reach out to start the collaboration. Once we've settled on a proposal you love, an initial payment will be taken to secure your booking with the balance due closer to the travel date. 

We receive net or commissionable rates on tours, accommodations, and packages. Generally on custom journeys, we are receiving wholesale prices on many separate components, but many pieces are not commissionable, such as transfers and park fees. By offering complete packages to you rather than single components, we are able to earn our living without inflating your price while providing a comprehensive experience.

Tipping is at your discretion and based on the cultural implications of gratuity for the country you are visiting. We will provide tipping guidelines specific to your destination(s) in preparation for your journey.

For any big adventure more complicated than a quick getaway, planning as far in advance as possible is best. This gives you the most choice for best quality for value and travel dates. For experiences with limited permit availability, such as gorilla trekking permits in Uganda, planning far in advance is essential. Many companies will work with us on an "early bird" price to lock in the rate before the new year's price increase. If you have total flexibility, some safari operators offer last minute rates for bookings inside of 45 days in advance (paid in full), however you may end up struggling to find flights and paying more in airfare that results in less overall savings, so that's easiest to pull off if you are already on the continent, perhaps renting a home in Cape Town for the season.
